Christine's story

On 1st February 2017 I decided that I wanted to lose some weight. After three months I had lost a stone but had come to a standstill. I spoke to my GP about this and she suggested contacting Southampton Healthy Living. I agreed that I would try anything to help myself. My appointment came through quickly for 10th May 2017 at the Royal South Hants Hospital.  This is where I had the good fortune to meet Sapna, the behaviour change practitioner.  This was the moment my life changed.

Sapna explained very carefully the British Heart Foundation diet to me, about food choices I could make and portion control.  She also stressed the importance of exercise. Sapna really inspired me and I couldn't wait to get started.  When I had my next appointment after two weeks I had lost 5 pounds, the following 2 weeks another 3 pounds and so on.  By the time my sessions with Sapna had finished I had lost a stone and a half in addition to the stone I had already lost.  This has made a considerable difference to my life.  Being disabled with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis that weight off my bones was such a help.

Since my last appointment with Sapna I have lost another 13 pounds. I have gone down in size from a 22 to a 16/18. I feel better and people tell me I look younger.

My goal is to lose as much weight as I possibly can and continue to eat healthily always. I would thoroughly recommend the service offered by Southampton Healthy Living to anyone who wants to lose weight. A huge thank you to Sapna she has given me my life back.
